This bridge –– known as Benson Bridge –– was built in 1914 to span the creek between the upper and lower section of Multnomah Falls. Over 100ft from the foot of the lower falls, the bridge's builders had to scale the rocky cliff amidst the foliage and nearby rushing water to reach the build site. To gather their building materials, they used a horse-operated aerial trolley to pull everything up. The resulting bridge still stands today, and with the subtle elegance that so much constructed in the late 1800s to early 1900s displays.
